Generators and Projectors: What To Do While You Are Waiting

If you are a Human Design Generator or Projector type, you know that your strategy for success is to “wait” for the right invitations and opportunities. You don’t initiate or manipulate; you “wait” for them to organically flow to you.

When Generators and Projectors first learn their Human Design type and strategy, they tend to have BIG emotions. First, they feel relief, but just as quickly, they are puzzled and frustrated by this thing called "waiting."

“What do you mean I have to wait?”

Their mind can’t take it in. They don’t want to believe it. It’s the opposite of what they've been doing their whole life. Waiting is lazy. It’s weak. It’s dumb. How can you get on in your career, business, relationships, or life if you’re waiting for something to happen?

It’s a valid reaction.  From birth, we are taught that people who don’t seize the day get run over and left behind. So, why would any functioning adult “wait” for an invitation to live their life?

Some people find it hard to tolerate the big emotions they feel after learning they are a Generator or Projector.

They may feel defeated, cheated, or even angry.

Others go so far as to blow the whole thing off. They push it out of their minds and try to forget about it. - But once you’ve seen your Human Design, you can’t really unsee it.

stop! Don’t blow off your Human Design

How can you tolerate and get past this perfectly normal emotional response?

First, sink into acceptance.

Surrender to the fact that you are a Generator or Projector. Embrace it because it's never going to change.

Second, get answers to your burning questions:

Human Design and Watiging
  • What does “waiting” mean?

  • What am I waiting for?

  • What do I do while I am waiting?

  • How long do I have to wait?

  • What if nothing happens while I’m waiting?

  • What does waiting look like in my business, career, job applications, relationships, dating life, etc.?

Third, understand that in Human Design, waiting is active.

While waiting, you are actively and strategically preparing for your future invitations. Learn more when you book a call with me.

The Art of Waiting

Believe it or not, there is an art to waiting. You can do it the easy way or the hard way.

The hard way is to anxiously manipulate invitations or act like a Manifestor who initiates things. This is a bad idea. Don’t do this.

The easy way is to keep busy doing things you love.

Choose people, places, situations, and things that are in alignment with your hopes, dreams, and what you enjoy doing.

Energetically you will attract the invitations and opportunities that are meant for you.

Get Busy and stay busy

Here are a few things to do while you are actively and strategically waiting:

Learn your strategy well

For the Projector, what do recognition and invitation look like? What are their differences? Do you know?

For the Generator, what does “something to respond to” look and feel like? Where do they come from?

Talk it out

Who can support you as you practice your role as a Projector or a Generator?

• If you’re a Generator, can you invite someone to help you practice your Sacral response?

• If you’re a Projector, can you identify the people who help you reach clarity in your life and spend more time talking to them?

Do more of what you love

Use your intuition or past experiences to identify what you are good at.

• What are your talents and gifts?

• What valuable skills come naturally to you?

• What activity do you lose yourself in for hours?

• If money were no object, what would you joyfully do for free all day? – Create that picture for yourself and get busy following your bliss.

Get into your Zone, Socially!

Become more social both personally and professionally.

• Challenge your social comfort level. It doesn’t matter if you do it virtually or in person. Just do it!

Projectors, you are here to help people reach their full potential. You hold space until people independently recognize that you have what they need. Those who really need you will invite you to direct them.

To get invited, you need to get in front of people. They can’t invite you if they can’t see you.

The same goes for Generators who are looking for something new and exciting to do.

Make a point of being in an environment that supports your interests. This way, you will never be short of things to respond to.

Find your tribe

Talk to friends and family about your big ideas and aspirations. Ask them about your best interpersonal qualities and your natural abilities. Ask them what they think you would be good at.

Listen for invitations within those conversations.

Depending on your personal Human Design Chart and conditioning, this may be easier for some than others.

Don’t stress if socializing doesn’t come naturally. Do your best.

A good Human Design informed therapist, coach, or mentor can help you.

• Specifically, Projectors are uniquely designed to recognize, invite, and give you things to respond to.

• They know what it’s like to wait, so they take care to invite their clients often.

• They know how to train Generators to use their Sacral as a trusted guide.

While You’re Waiting… spread the word about Human Design

Tell people about Human Design. Ask them if you can create their charts. Teach them what you’ve learned so far.

When you do this, two things will happen:

1) You will get invaluable practice learning the Human Design System, and

2) You will receive more invitations and things to respond to.
