Understanding Generator Frustration and Anger

Are you a Generator or Manifesting Generator? Do you live with one or know one? At the very least you know one because Generators make up seventy percent of the population.

A Generator’s basic role in the Human Design family is to work, build, and reproduce. They have unlimited energy and stamina for work they love.

When they make decisions that energize them, they experience a life theme of satisfaction.

Did you know that a Generator or Manifesting Generator has three possible life themes: satisfaction, frustration, and anger?

I like to think of them as moods.

What mood is your Generator life in right now?

The Generator mood of Satisfaction

Satisfaction for a Generator means you are experiencing an easy flow in all areas of your life.

You trust yourself to make good decisions.

Your life is exciting because you allow your Sacral vibrations to guide you from one cool thing to the next.

You find bliss in the uniqueness of your life.

When you respond to your Sacral nudges, you get the wind at your back. It makes your work, family, and community responsibilities easier and more satisfying.

The Generator mood of Frustration

For Generators in the know, feelings of frustration while waiting are welcomed. It means a new work opportunity is on its way.

On the other hand, when you don’t understand the meaning of Generator frustration while waiting, it can feel like torture.

Waiting for something to respond to goes against everything we are taught.

Presently, Western culture is about individualism, pulling oneself up by the bootstraps, making your own way, and “just do it.” If you’re not making waves, then what’s the point of you? Get out of the way.

It’s no wonder the concept of waiting is shocking to Generators who are new to Human Design. You can see the wheels turning behind their eyes: “What kind of lazy bum will I be if I wait for things to happen to me. I’ve got to make things happen.”

It's scary to let go of a belief you’ve relied on for your whole life. It feels like you’re stepping into the unknown or jumping off a cliff.

It’s normal for Generators experimenting with waiting to feel very uncomfortable. They describe a compulsion to act, initiate, and start things just to relieve the pressure. — This pressure is stronger when they don’t understand why or what they are waiting for,

To ease the pressure they “think” about what they “should” be doing and what “everyone expects” them to do.

They abandon the guidance of their Sacral and do things that are curated and influenced by other people.

Decisions like these are not correct for a Generator.

Acting on this type of decision will be effortful. There will be very little flow.

Generators who make decisions with their mind instead of their Sacral live joyless, struggle-filled lives. Their work is draining. They're pushing and pulling rather than flowing and gliding through their life. They are frustrated, irritable, and angry.

the Generator mood of Anger

Anger is the Manifesting Generators life theme, but I have observed Generator anger related to frustration as well.

Their anger occurs when they can’t find their way out of prolonged frustration. When there's no end in sight to their stuckness.

Excruciating frustration gives way to fear, disillusionment, and a belief that you are failing at life. People and systems are out to get you.

You get angry when you feel you have no control over your life.

If you don’t know how to relieve these feelings or change things, you may shut down or act out in anger. You may start harming yourself, become disruptive, and lash out at people around you.

If you fear confrontation, you will avoid expressing your feelings and burnout emotionally.

You might even burn out physically and give up, shut down, and sink into depression.

how to get more satisfaction and less Frustration

If you are a Generator or Manifesting Generator, it is one hundred percent possible to increase your satisfaction and decrease frustrating experiences.

Here is how you do that:

  • Follow your Human Design Strategy.

    • Your Generator strategy is to wait for something outside of yourself to respond to

      • Not following your strategy is the same as working against your own best interests

  • Learn from your past and present frustrations.

    • Reflect on how you got into the situation in the first place

    • Ask yourself, did I use my strategy or not?

  • Keep busy while you wait.

    • Prepare for response opportunities that are on their way to you right now

The Generator’s Secret Weapon

Every Generator needs a Projector and vice versa.

Ra Uru Hu, the conduit of the Human Design System, specifically stated that both types have powerful gifts uniquely designed for each other.

Generators and Projectors do well to understand, accept, and take advantage of each other's gifts.

Projectors are specifically designed to guide Generators toward their best life choices.

In the beginning, Projectors act as training wheels and sounding boards for Generators who are waking up their Sacral response system.

When Projectors and Generators work together, a Generator can quickly rack up successes.

Projectors in the know ask Generator questions which help the Generator pinpoint what they truly want to do.

It only takes a few meaningful successes to start living the Generator life theme of satisfaction.

At this point, a Generator may no longer need a dedicated Projector guide. They will have learned to trust their Sacral decision-making system.

Also, they now know they should invite Projectors to guide them. That’s what Projectors are here to do. It’s their specialty.

After experiencing how Projectors help them, Generators can train their non-Projector partners, children, or friends to help them reach clarity.

Conclusion:

In the beginning, learning the art of peaceful and still waiting is not easy.

Trusting that something tailor-made is on its way and worth waiting for is a hard sell.

However, please trust that it does get easier. Racking up successful outcomes helps you trust your Generator process.

If you feel overwhelmed and depressed by a life theme of Generator frustration and anger, don’t forget to review your strategy.

If you don’t know why or what you are waiting for, you may need help understanding your type and strategy.

Knowing your type and strategy is not enough.

You must demonstrate that you know how to use it in real-life situations.

When you understand and truly love the Human Design System, you will see that Projectors and Generators are natural partners.

Projectors specifically help Generators stay in alignment with their life theme of satisfaction. They know how to direct and fire up Generator Sacrals.

Activate the Projectors in your life. Invite them to help you. Use their natural abilities to guide and direct you.
